Fiction and literature lose a trenchant and influential chronicler of the Nigerian, female and human condition in Buchi Emecheta.
LONDON, ENGLAND — The world of African, diaspora, and feminist letters mourns the passing of Buchi Emecheta, the Nigerian female author of more than 20 books, including, most notably, Second Class Citizen and The Joys of Motherhood.
Among the many tributes to her life, work, and legacy, those gathered here by the Council of the Caine Prize for African Writing have thus far proven the more moving, wide-ranging, and honorable.
