Description: Ai Weiwei’s epic film journey gives powerful visual expression to recent foreceable movement of 65 million people from their homes, reportedly the greatest human displacement since the aftermath of the Second World War. The film follows a set of connected human stories of migration, over a single year, in 23 countries including Bangladesh, France, Greece, Iraq, Kenya, Mexico, and Turkey. Ai Weiwei poses a number of questions throughout his visual and narrative piece, especially those concerning the ability of now irreversibly global societies to find ways to acknowledge the human details of life undergoing trauma, violence, isolation, the fear of others, projection, and self-interest.
